Where the experience comes from

Expert witness and litigation support

Kenneth acts as an expert witness and litigation analyst for the legal community, providing independent analysis in matters including disability and personal injury income loss calculations, divorce mediation and property division, estate planning calculations and mediation, and retirement funding and lifelong income planning.

This work matters for what appears on this site. Retirement income projections that have to survive examination in a legal proceeding are held to a different standard than illustrations produced to support a recommendation, and that standard is the one applied to the calculators and worked examples published here.

Industry involvement and regulation

A longtime volunteer on the regulation side of the financial industry, developing policy, enforcing advisor compliance, and protecting clients' and consumers' interests first.

  • Appointed to the Financial Planner/Financial Advisor Stakeholder Advisory Committee of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), representing the Independent Financial Brokers of Canada
  • Appointed to the board of the Estate Planning Council of Canada
  • Former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Alberta Insurance Council

Educator and presenter

Kenneth has presented on investments, insurance, retirement income planning, financial and estate planning, and philanthropy.

How he works

Bracket Planning is advice-only: the practice sells financial planning and nothing else. There are no product commissions, no assets under management, and no third-party compensation. What that means for the guides on this site is that there is no product at the end of the funnel: the recommendation is the deliverable.

Guides on this site are general information, not personal advice. They are written for a Canadian audience and describe how rules and tradeoffs generally work. Your own situation will have facts that change the answer. For advice specific to you, book a call.
